National project

The Swiss project deals with integration of heat pumps into the energy system of nZEB. Since nZEB include renewable components in the building façade, one aspect is the building and system integration of the heat pump and solar components for the space heating, DHW production and space cooling in residential and light commercial buildings.
The project partner Energie solaire SA is a manufactures of uncovered, selectively coated solar absorbers, which can be directly integrated in the building roof or façade. The project partner has already realised buildings with solar components and the heat pumps connected by an ice-storage in canton Valais in southern Switzerland.
The target is to find an integration and product design, which can reach good operational performance for the different operation modes in multifunctional use. In the project system configurations shall be analysed by simulations and lab-tests in a hardware-in-the-loop environment. Therefore, the components are first modelled based on the lab-test results and afterwards, system configurations are evaluated by simulations. After the simulations, models can be used for the emulation of the boundary conditions for a hardware in the loop lab-test with real components to consider the behaviour of the real components. The objective of the project is to derive recommendations and assessments of the different system configurations favourable for nZEB.

Moreover, the project partner Institute of Energy in Building IEBau has an ongoing field monitoring project of a MINERGIE-P-Eco® certified building with a 20 kWp solar PV-system, a ground-coupled 8.9 kW heat pump as well as and electric car in Rupperswil, Switzerland. The target of the field monitoring is evaluation of the energy balance of the building and investigation of strategies for a local load management with the ground-coupled heat pump and the electro-mobility in order to maximize on-site consumption of the produced PV-electricity and minimize grid-interaction.
